Why Visit the Taiga Nomads?
Northern Mongolia is home to one of the world’s rarest indigenous cultures. The Tsaatan people depend entirely on their reindeer for transportation, milk, and daily life. Unlike traditional Mongolian livestock herders, they move their camps four to five times every year, following seasonal grazing grounds deep inside the taiga forests.
Because their summer camps are inaccessible by vehicle, travelers must reach them on horseback, making this one of Mongolia’s most authentic and adventurous journeys.
This is more than sightseeing—it’s an opportunity to experience a way of life that has survived for generations.
